Josie starts with
Barack Obama’s election in the United States has fired imaginations around the globe, perhaps nowhere more than in the Middle East, where people wonder how the future president’s approach to the Arab world will differ from that of his predecessor.

Congratulations! That reference led me here to your blog.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the New York Times and other important United States newspapers would feature content from bloggers from all around the world? Maybe if every new reader to your blog writes and asks them to, it could happen! Clark Hoyt is the Public Editor, public@nytimes.com

Perhaps I'm becoming too optimistic after being so cynical for eight years, but I hope that Obama's view of the world as a community of which the United States is one part will help our media and individual Americans look even harder for international viewpoints, especially from countries and cultures that we don't necessarily understand, or worse, mistakenly think that we do understand.

This is a great Blog. Thanks for writing.

I also found you through that link.

Yalla 3eesh! It's your fifteen minutes of fame.

annf, thanks for the nice words. The internet has changed alot ,and made people seek other resources for news other than the mainstream media in America. I will check with the NYTimes, thanks for posting it. For more dialogue between Arabs and Americans, check this link www.arabvoicesspeak.com

Floridian, thanks

The Chemist, shayedd ballah, u got a nice Blog man, I'll check it later during the day

annf, I have to point out that after 9/11 Amercans were thirssty to know more about the Middele East, Arabs and even learn Arabic. The reason for that was to understand our culture, faiths (Musilms and Christians). Some Americans never knew that Arabs can be Christians, and some even asked me (while i was in Florida) if I ride a camel to work! So yes, there are many people interested in my people and region, I just hope I can guide them to the right sources.

Congratulations Ali!

I read it. It is a well writing article, very clear with a strong point of view.

If Obama would not won the elections nothing wouldn't make sense. He has come in a moment where America crave for a change more than any other era.

Let not be foolish. Mr. Obama has an incredible task ahead. It won't be easy because major illnesses such as, the economy catastrophe, immigration, and security need big medicine.
In addition, like everywhere else, politics are manipulated and some politics in America will play for their parties rather playing for the interests of the American people in general.

To be truthful to you, I cried that night. I felt emotional and astonished. Some Black Americans couldn't even dream to live for that moment and here he was: Mr. Obama winning for unbelievable records. In Miami, before the election, I could see long lines of voters, mostly African Americans, making heir voice heard.

After Mr. Obama's victory I can catch that sense of hope, people not only talk about it but expresses it in the way they behave toward their future.

God bless America. Let's be part of the transformation process.

Julio Borjas

I discovered your blog through this article in the NY Times and I am curious: what exactly would be a fair and just peace for Israel and Palestinians? You can email to me at jbirdme@excite.com.

YM, thanks for visiting my blog, and sorry for the late reply. A just and fair peace is what is needed in the region. A peace that is based on the return of the Palestinain refugees (or offering compensation if they agree) A one state solution to gurantee that all the citizens of this country wither Arab(Muslims & Christians) and Jews have the same rights. Palestinian lack security, basic life necessities such as edcuation, healthcare, freedom of movement, water, food, gas. Jews should be guranteed the security they are lacking. The situation is very complex, and it should start by the demolishing of checkpoints, the aparthied wall, and start talking and understanding what the people of this region need and also by having the will to sacrfice.
